FAQs

Valley Boarding Kennel

Have a question about our pet services at Valley Boarding Kennel? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!

  • What vaccines do you require?

For dogs, we require rabies, distemper, and bordetella vaccinations. We strongly recommend canine influenza vaccination as well. Connecticut law mandates that dogs over 6 months old be registered with their local town. We need to keep a copy of this registration and vaccine records on file.
  • Should I bring my pet's food in?

We recommend bringing your pet's regular food. This helps prevent digestive issues like loose stools or diarrhea that can occur with sudden diet changes. Maintaining your pet's usual diet also reduces stress during their stay.
  • If my pet uses your food, what kind is it?

We use and recommend Fromm Family Pet Food. We also offer a variety of premium food options, including raw diets, which can be purchased for your pet during their stay with us.

  • Can my dog still be groomed even if it isn't boarding?

Yes, we offer full-service grooming for both boarding and non-boarding pets. Our grooming salon is open six days a week for appointments.
  • How much does grooming cost?

Grooming costs vary based on the breed, coat condition, and specific services provided. We can provide an estimate over the phone, but please note that the final cost may differ at the time of service.
  • What if my dog is not social, can he/she still board?

Yes, we accommodate all dogs, including those who are not social. While we offer doggie daycare as an option, it's not required for boarding. We provide separate enclosures for all pets and offer various activities suitable for dogs who prefer not to interact with others.
  • Will my dog get walked?

Yes, we have large, fully fenced outdoor exercise areas included in our standard boarding fees. Your dog will be taken to these areas off-leash three times daily. Additional outdoor time or activities can be arranged upon request.
  • My dog is used to a certain routine; can you accommodate this?

We strive to accommodate individual pet needs and owner requests within reason. Our ability to cater to specific routines or preferences sets us apart from larger corporate facilities.
  • Can my dogs stay together?

Yes, we allow dogs from the same family to board together. This often provides comfort for the pets. If needed, we can separate them during feeding times to prevent any issues with treats or meals.
  • What time is the drop-off?

You may drop off your pet at any time during our posted business hours.
